The festival dedicated to the founder of the city of Bjelovar, Empress Maria Theresa, is held at the very end of spring, on the second weekend in June. Here you will learn about the history of Bjelovar, the tradition and heritage of its great artists.

The Bjelovar Theatre Festival BOK Fest has been held for 20 years from the end of April to the beginning of May. It is rich in performances of professional theatres from Croatia and the region, both for younger and older visitors.

Motorcycle Alka is a unique event organized by BOK Fest and the Bjelovar motorcycle club White City Riders, where actors and actresses from motorcycles, instead of horses, must hit the Alka target right in the middle.

Every year on Labor Day, May 1, the Bjelovar Motorcycle Club organizes the Motorcycle Budnica. It is a celebratory motorcycle parade that once served as a reflection of rebellion and the struggle for workers’ rights, and today there is an opportunity for around five hundred motorcyclists from all over Croatia to socialize.

Fervent cyclists can take part in one of the BILOgravel challenges during May. It is a recreational marathon that runs through forest trails, along rivers and streams, through villages and fields of Bjelovar-Bilogora County, and participants, depending on fitness and readiness, can choose a red, blue or green trail, so that no one is excluded.

In Gudovac near Bjelovar, at the end of March, one of the largest livestock and agricultural fairs in the region is organized every year. More than 500 exhibitors are waiting for you, through whose work you can get acquainted with the trends in farming and livestock breeding, as well as the latest technologies in these fields.

Babotučka vojna is a staging of the legend of the same name in the municipality of Zrinski Topolovac, which has been passed down from generation to generation there for 500 years. It is held in May, and how important it is for this area is also evidenced by the fact that the procedure of its registration in the Register of Cultural Property of the Republic of Croatia is currently underway.

FunRun Bjelovar is a race that takes place once a year, in the first half of June, and passes through the very center of Bjelovar. The event consists of three separate races, those on five and ten kilometers, and a relay race of four times two and a half kilometers.

From the end of June to the beginning of September, Bjelovar is the scene of lavish cultural events that locals and visitors can fill with long warm summer days. The program includes traditional and entertaining concerts, literary evenings and talks with authors, workshops for children, art exhibitions and movie nights, all under the starry skies.

This jazz music festival is held every year in late June and early July. It gathers famous names of jazz music who perform their compositions under the stars in the center of Bjelovar, and the entrance for all visitors is free.

This documentary film festival gathers filmmakers from more than 20 countries around the world every year at the beginning of October, and it also has an excellent program for children through which they learn to shoot and edit their own documentary film.

Autumn in Bilogora takes place in the Veliko Trojstvo ethno park every year at the beginning of October. From sports games with the autumn theme and pumpkin carving workshops for the youngest participants, to cycling and hiking for adults – Autumn in Bilogora is the perfect greeting to autumn for all ages.

This chamber music festival is dedicated to the person and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was born in the same year as the town of Bjelovar was founded, 1756. Musicians from all over the country and abroad perform the most famous works of the Austrian composer every year in the first half of October.

The Bilogora Trail takes place at the very beginning of autumn, and it is the longest running race in the Bilogora area. Runners can choose one of three races – Squirrel, which is seven kilometers long, Roe Deer, which is 19 kilometers long, or Boar, which is 27 kilometers long.

For 20 years, on the eve of Christmas, a festive Christmas gala concert is held in Bjelovar. Famous names of the domestic and foreign music scene perform the most beautiful Christmas compositions during it, and it is regularly broadcast by the Croatian Radio and Television.
