Music pavilion
f you are looking for the perfect place to take photos in Bjelovar, look no further. The music pavilion is located in the very center of Bjelovar, at the address Trg Eugena Kvaternika 5, and is always open to visitors. The pavilion was built during the Second World War, it was opened to the public on October 8, 1943, and it was designed by the award-winning Bjelovar architect Zdenko Strižić. The pavilion was then built of white Brač stone, the same stone that adorns the White House in Washington or the lobby of the UN in New York. Over the years, this wonderful piece of architecture has become a symbol of the city of Bjelovar, which you should not miss when visiting the city.
Part of the original stone is now kept in the Bjelovar City Museum since 2015, when the pavilion was completely renovated and covered with stone with characteristics very close to Brač stone, which is Plano-Redi stone from a quarry in the hinterland of Trogir. Sometimes it is hard to believe that such an impressive pavilion, which is the largest stone pavilion in Europe, was built on the site where a modest well once stood.
During Advent in Bjelovar, May Day celebrations and various other events, it is the place of central events, musical performances and plays, and throughout the year it is a favourite gathering place for the people of Bjelovar as well as a popular spot for wedding photos and other occasions.
